Maiyue Cheng has more than 20 years of experience working on clean energy, climate change and technology innovation in mainland China, Hong Kong and the United States. In his most recent career, he is focused on the impact of the advancement of artificial intelligence on various industries, particularly on global energy transformation and cross-border collaboration. He has worked with leading Chinese cities, designing their development strategies, influencing policymaking and devising solutions for them to migrate to a low-carbon development track.
Earlier in his career he worked with the World Bank, Chinese state-owned enterprises, leading energy and information technology multinational corporations, international management consultancies and non-profit think tanks with leadership appointments. Currently he is co-founding a venture to scale next-generation conductor technology to enable global grid upgrade with 40% reduction of line loss.
Mr. Cheng attended Fudan University, the Beijing Institute of International Relations and the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international relations, economics and public policy.
